If you are a JavaScript developer and want to enhance your knowledge by learning the mobile app development, Mobile JavaScript Application Development by Adrian Kosmaczewski (O’Reilly Media) is a fantastic book for you. It covers hot topics like HTML5, jQuery Mobile, Sencha Touch and PhoneGap. This book serves as a good starting for the beginners to learn these trending app development technologies and frameworks.

It begins with basic and essential topics like useful HTML5 APIs & CSS3 and JavaScript productivity tips. First two chapters focus on these stuff including Device Orientation and Motion. These topics are not explained in depth, as the book is not aimed for JavaScript beginners and is focused on mobile app development. Next chapters cover jQuery Mobile, Sencha Touch and PhoneGap in details with examples. The chapter on PhoneGap has instructions for creating iOS, Android and Windows Phone ‘native’ apps from the packaged web applications. The last chapter, “Debugging and Testing”, gives introduction of debugging tools like iWebInspector and Adobe Shadow.

Although the book explains every topic clearly and in simple language, it remains focused only on the basic concepts and examples. If you describe yourself as a n00b in mobile JS, it is the best tutorial for you.
